kings of dub
British Asian Dub Foundation spin at B2.
TEXT FRANCIS MERSON feedback
Asian Dub Foundation are the musical by-product of ethnic London, from which they have inherited a real hodge-podge of influences, ranging from Bollywood soundtracks to hip-hop. The group first got together at a London youth project called Community Music, where the group’s founder Dr Das taught music technology. He was joined by civil rights worker DJ Pandit G and a rapper by the name of Deeder Zaman, and the trio developed the distinctive raw ADF sound — a mixture of electronic samples and live instruments. ADF was later joined by guitarist Chandrasonic and dancer/vocalist Sun-J, who will be both be present at the concert this Thursday. Copies of their latest album, “Tank,” will be available at the show, and this new release is rumored to be their strongest to date. Even the staidest individuals cannot resist getting up and shaking their booty when the tabla beats kick in, so the dance floor should be pumping at B2. Tickets to the show go for 900 rubles and, in typical Moscow style, there are VIP tickets for 2,000. |
